International Homicide Data

Source:  United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

Data represent the number of homicides per 100,000 population as captured by different sources of national and international administrative statistics.
Note
The International Homicide Statistics - First Edition ("IHS-1") dataset is the result of research carried out by UNODC in 2008. It is available at: http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/data-and-analysis/ihs.html.

The aim of IHS-1 was to achieve the widest geographical coverage of data. Intentional homicide values from a range of sources for 198 countries/territories were found for the single reference year 2004. For countries where more than one source was identified, IHS-1 presents 'low' and 'high' level data. UNODC will work on updating the dataset and further versions of the IHS for subsequent years will be published as and when relevant data become available.
