Footnotes

1 - During the 2010 Census, the relationship between the members of the household was determined on the basis of a set of questions completed for all members of the household, differently from the 2000 Census. In the 2000 Census, the reference person was used to establish the relationship between the members of the household. In 2010 however, enumerators were instructed to choose a reference person as a mere helpful tool in finding the person who could be most helpful in completing the housing form, given that the owner of the living quarter or the one responsible for paying the rent is often the one who knows the most of the living quarter. Relationship to head of household was not asked in the 2010 Census.
2 - This data has been randomly rounded to protect confidentiality. Individual figures may not add up to totals, and values for the same data may vary in different tables.
3 - 422240 households categorised as "Visitor only" or "Not classifiable " are excluded from this table as a "Household reference person" is not identified in "Visitor only " and "Not classifiable" households.

The United Nations Statistics Division collects, compiles and disseminates official demographic and social statistics on a wide range of topics. Data have been collected since 1948 through a set of questionnaires dispatched annually to over 230 national statistical offices and have been published in the Demographic Yearbook collection. The Demographic Yearbook disseminates statistics on population size and composition, births, deaths, marriage and divorce, as well as respective rates, on an annual basis. The Demographic Yearbook census datasets cover a wide range of additional topics including economic activity, educational attainment, household characteristics, housing characteristics, ethnicity, language, foreign-born and foreign population. The available Population and Housing Censuses' datasets reported to UNSD for the censuses conducted worldwide since 1995, are now available in UNdata.
